Product Integrity Lead
Product Constraints & Guardrails
Remote (US)
About Second Pass
Second Pass is a deliberately limited AI tool for structured reflection on conversation transcripts. It produces a single bounded output and then stops. The product is designed to prevent authority creep, engagement loops, and over-interpretation by treating limits as first-class design decisions.
This role exists to keep the product within those boundaries.
About the Role
We are hiring a Product Integrity Lead to own and enforce the constraints that define Second Pass. This is a governance role embedded in product decision-making, with explicit authority to block or remove changes that compromise the system’s limits, stopping behavior, or epistemic posture.
This role is not responsible for growth, engagement, or feature velocity. It is responsible for preventing drift.
Responsibilities
- Own and enforce product-level constraints, stopping conditions, and non-goals.
- Review proposed product changes, features, and product claims for compliance with defined limits.
- Exercise veto authority over changes that increase interpretive power, engagement pressure, or implied authority.
- Maintain a living map of known and emerging failure modes (e.g., over-trust, misuse, rumination loops).
- Decide when features should be removed, simplified, or never shipped.
- Serve as final internal reviewer for constraint-related product decisions and escalations.
What This Role Does Not Do
- Does not optimize engagement, retention, or conversion.
- Does not market the product or define go-to-market strategy.
- Does not act as a therapist, coach, or user authority.
- Does not add new interpretive layers or expand product scope.
Who You Are
- Comfortable saying no repeatedly and without escalation.
- Willing to make the product smaller to keep it correct.
- Clear-headed under pressure from feature requests or market narratives.
- Oriented toward deletion and prevention rather than invention.
Relevant Experience
Backgrounds that tend to fit this role include:
- Product policy, trust & safety, or AI governance roles
- Safety, risk, or compliance work with decision-making authority
- Senior product or engineering roles where scope control was central
Formal ML experience is not required. Judgment is.
Compensation
- Base Salary Range: $250,000 – $350,000 USD (depending on experience and scope)
- Equity / Long-Term Incentives: Available and negotiable
- Compensation is benchmarked against senior AI governance and product risk roles
Logistics
- Location: Remote (United States)
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Reporting: Direct to founder / executive product owner
- Visa Sponsorship: Not available at this time
How to Apply
Please submit:
- A brief example of a product decision you blocked or scaled back, and why.
- One failure mode in AI products you believe is under-addressed.
Applications without these will not be reviewed.
