Second Pass is a deliberately limited AI tool for structured reflection on conversation transcripts. It returns one response and stops. Its product rules are to limit interpretive power, avoid engagement loops, and keep the system from sounding more certain than the text supports.

About the Role

We are hiring a Product Integrity Lead to own and enforce the constraints that define Second Pass. You can block or remove changes that weaken the stop condition, expand interpretive scope, or increase the product’s implied authority.

The job is to prevent product pressure from turning Second Pass into an open-ended assistant.

Responsibilities

• Own product constraints, stopping conditions, and non-goals.
• Review proposed changes, features, and product claims against those limits.
• Block changes that increase interpretive power, engagement pressure, or implied authority.
• Maintain a list of known failure modes such as over-trust, misuse, and rumination loops.
• Decide when features should be removed, simplified, or not shipped.
• Serve as the final internal reviewer for constraint-related product decisions and escalations.

Out of scope

Growth, retention, conversion, marketing, go-to-market strategy, therapy, coaching, and expanding the product’s interpretive scope are outside this role.

Who You Are

• Comfortable saying no repeatedly and without escalation.
• Willing to make the product smaller to keep it correct.
• Clear-headed when feature requests or market pressure conflict with product limits.
• Prefer deletion and prevention to invention.

Relevant Experience

Useful backgrounds include:

• Product policy, trust & safety, or AI governance roles
• Safety, risk, or compliance work with decision-making authority
• Senior product or engineering roles where scope control was central

Formal ML experience is not required. Judgment is.

Compensation

• Base Salary Range: $250,000–$350,000 USD (depending on experience and scope)
• Equity / Long-Term Incentives: Available and negotiable
